Another great point in communicating is to take the extra time to listen to what others have to say then after communicate back now understanding more fully the other person. Listening attentively at the other person is a very important part of the communicating process. It would be great as mentioned here if good communication skills were taught at our schools perhaps we could solve better some social issues.

I wholeheartedly agree that communication touches every aspect of our lives. In fact, communication is our life. The second we are with someone else, we use communication, we enter into a conversation. And when we're on our own, we still communicate -- with ourselves. The question then is: how good is your communication with yourself? As Tony Robbins once said: Your communication determines the quality of your life.

Your point about writing so that we are not misunderstood is also valid in our spoken communication. The meaning of what we say to someone else is determined by the response we get from that person. If the response is not what you expected, you need to be flexible enough to change the way you communicate so that you're understood.
