Description
Our client is the leading provider of combined heat and power generation plants throughout the UK. They are one of the 'big 6' energy suppliers and have recently been named as a 'Top 50 Company to Work For'

As part of the ongoing development of operations, an opportunity now exists to join a small, highly motivated team as an Operations and Maintenance Mechanical Engineer based principally in Cleveland. This team is established to provide maintenance support and operations support to two of our client's CHP assets in the North East.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to make a significant contribution and extend their current maintenance and operations experience. This exciting position will require an individual with maintenance, technical and operations ability, able to work flexibly, often alone, carrying out maintenance activities and providing operations support as required. The post will include providing support to other sites where required.

Plant Overview:

The team provides support principally for two CHP Plants each comprising 40MW GE Frame 6 gas turbine, exhausting into a boiler supplying steam to the host site and to an ABB steam turbine controlled through an integrated control system.

Duties will include:
- Fault diagnosis and rectification where appropriate.
- Managing engineering project work and outage work schedules.
- Supervision of contractors and the site team.
- Completing technical appraisals of plant modification proposals and plant flexibility proposals, including design reviews, risk assessments and hazop studies.
- Review of existing maintenance contracts to ensure we are extracting value.
- Evaluating tender documents from maintenance service providers for suitability and value.
- The implementation of Corporate Guidance, Procedures and Operational Information Notes in order to ensure the site remains compliant.
- Liaisons with the host site customer and other external organisations.
- Performing the duties of a Safety Controller.
- Participation in local call out arrangements to support site operations.

Applicants should be qualified to at least HNC or equivalent level in an engineering discipline and will have an excellent technical understanding of the principles of power plant operation and maintenance. The successful candidates will have good written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a logical approach to problem solving.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible individual willing to develop into the OandM Engineer's role and will be able to take on considerable responsibility as a member of the site team.
