Our client manages non-regulated power generation assets, including investments in Northern Ireland, Spain, UK and Dublin.
Job Title – UK Trading Manager
Salary - ££45k - £80kpa
Benefits – 10% Bonus
Location – Dublin
They are now planning to expand their merchant generation portfolio into the UK market, by setting up a Dublin-based UK Trading Unit. We are seeking to recruit the UK Trading Manager for their Front Office. Dependent on date of joining, the posts may initially be involved in the project work of setting up the logistics and required counterparty relationships of the UK business, transitioning thereafter to the operation of the unit once formed.
Job Role:
This role will establish and lead the UK trading front office with responsibility for developing the trading strategy in line with business strategy and governance policies. In addition, this role will determine the best approach to managing trading risk exposure and optimising the use of risk limits.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all trading activity carried out by team
• Developing counterparty relationships
• Wholesale origination activities
• Support our client in their investment appraisals
Person Specification:
• 4 to 6 year’s commodity experience with exposure to the UK Power and Gas, with experience of other commodity markets also required
• Proven track record in the following:
o Running day-to-day commodity desks, ideally in a Utility environment
o Development and execution of associated trading strategies
o Asset optimisation, fuel procurement and hedging
o Developing counter-party relationships and the required instruments to trade in the UK
This is a new expansion for our client, building on an already highly successful trading operation and staffing will be key. Accordingly the rewards will reflect the experience of the jobholder and will be very negotiable. We anticipate the salary for this role will attract a basic of £45,000 - £80,000 with a further bonus of 10%.
