Description
Our client is one of the ‘big 6’ energy suppliers in the UK and we are recruiting on their behalf for the position of Strategy and Planning Manager in the newly formed Energy Services Team.

As a senior member of the Energy Services Business Development Team, you will provide direction, co-ordination and leadership for the business for all matters relating to Energy Services Strategic Development. This will include working closely with other strategic teams as well as the Retail Strategic Planning function. You will be responsible for understanding the strategic issues facing Energy Services and then develop options to advise the business on how best to respond.

In addition you will be responsible for the co-ordination of Business Planning, the IBM Process and developing business cases and board papers to support investment and growth.

Key Competencies:

• Understand highly complex and diverse marketplace as well as competitor behaviour and strategies, government policy and complex regulatory procedures, leading the translation into actionable activities which drive value
• Multi dimensional strategic choice evaluation and decision making linked with complex financial modelling of strategic scenarios
• Develop strategies for maximising market opportunities recognising diverse rapidly changing nature of the market place to optimise business performance
• Develop creative and challenging strategic and tactical plans, which are understood, signed onto and can effectively be implemented by the business
Knowledge and Skills:

• Extensive and varied experience in a variety of relevant commercial, analytical or developmental areas in the energy industry
• Understanding of strategic and business planning management practices and techniques
• Educated to degree level, or equivalent, ideally in a commercial, strategic or analytical subject
• Ability to manage change and operate effectively in a fast moving and dynamic environment
• Communicating, negotiating and influencing at a senior level, both internally and externally
• Able to drive performance through others
• Good networker, able to manage and influence resources outside direct control and work in a matrix environment

The location for this role is flexible but is likely to be based in the West Midlands or Yorkshire.

The salary for this role attracts a basic of £50k to £56k plus a bonus potential of 15%, £6,000 car allowance and significant lifestyle and work related benefits.
