Really good managers dont manage they lead. In other words, they inspire their people to improve and deliver. For many leaders, it is about understanding how to motivate others. And we know that everyone is different, so it may mean leading people in very different ways.
Really good business leaders change and adapt their style and approach depending upon the needs of individuals. Its not just about how motivated people are, there are other factors to consider. So how many styles of leadership are there out there?
Different consultancies and training businesses have different views on the number of recognisable and independent leadership styles. To some there are a few. To others, there may be scores. But when it comes to practical implementation, most team leaders and managers perform better if the number of leadership styles they are expected to embrace is limited.
