I have personally held senior management positions (regional Head of Marketing for Deloitte's, founding Chairman of RYA Sailability amongst others) and now manage my various sailing challenges. In my roles I have seen some excellent examples of good management and some of the "not so good" variety. I, like many people, sometimes struggle to articulate what separates the good from the bad. Martin, in his book, identifies many of the differences in an easy to read and understandable manner. He also gives clear justifications, including the ‘bottom line', as to why managers should strive to gain the respect of their teams. Read Full Review

a very useful insight, 09 Dec 2010 Posted by soo

I am not usually a great lover of books like this - all a bit theoretical written by someone who lives on a different planet from where I work. I actually found this one quite useful and swapped examples in it with some colleagues over a coffee. It really got us thinking and talking about it and you can't ask more from a management book than that. Would recommend it to anyone.

Great Book!, 09 Dec 2010 Posted by bena

This is the best management book I have read since the excellent 'One minute Manager'. It is easy to read and full of practical tips that, if you take notice, will make a huge difference to the way your team respect you.

Only Fools and Bosses Neglect Respect, 05 Dec 2010 Posted by bookishgirl

I thought this was a great title and I wasn't wrong. Martin Fisher has a wide variety of experience and knowledge of his subject and this was evident in his book. Read and enjoy.

A refreshing look at the business world, 04 Dec 2010 Posted by Wiggles "Gadget Man"

I had my reservations at first based on the title; however having read this book now, I found it to be factual; relative to the real world; and refreshing honest. What adds further credibility to the book is the writers extensive background in the corporate world, where he has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience on which to base he assumptions. If your in business and looking for guidance, this is the book to pick up. You wont regret it.
